The Politics Poynter Group started a series of events called Pints & Politics with the main goal of bringing the community together for casual conversation with local politicians. After a successful first event with Representative Joe Cunningham, the editorial team sent invites to several politicians and saw rapid response. Mark Sanford joined us on July 25 and Tim Scott the following week on August 8. Each event received national coverage from NBC and CNN, with local coverage from Live 5 and ABC. A national Snapchat story highlighted a picture of Mark Sanford with The Post and Courier backdrop proudly behind him. With the strong national buzz, the success of these events spread to Washington to Senator Lindsey Graham’s team who immediately reached out to our team to host an event of their own. Senator Graham’s event also received over 300 registrants and received national and local recognition.
