Bright Spots is an ongoing data-driven series that highlights the accomplishments of K-12 schools in South Carolina.
The project's mission is to show the amazing things schools are accomplishing. The series isn’t focusing on schools that have the most resources, or even those that are performing best overall. It holds up schools that are doing one or more things particularly well as models for others to emulate.
The Education Lab is doing this to help improve education in South Carolina. It will help drive the Lab's coverage over the next couple years, following a multi-part investigation Minimally Adequate that looked at why South Carolina continued to appear at the bottom of the national rankings when it came to its public school system.
